5 Asian Ladies Admit To Using Photos Of ‘Prettier Women’ As Their Facebook Profile

Recently, I reported the story of an Asian girl who disfigured her face from injecting cooking oil into her face. Within that time also, I reported another story of an Asian girl who had multiple cosmetic surgeries to make her look like a French porcelain doll.

I also remember reporting yet another story about the contestants for the 2013 Miss Korea Beauty Pageant where all twenty something contestants had an uncanny resemblance to each other because they were all alleged to have undergone surgical procedures to look ‘a certain way.’

I’m not an authority on Asian women and the pressures their society may be putting on them as ‘the standard for beauty’, but I intend to carry out an in-depth research on this particular topic. The reason is that this issue has become so rampart in in some cases life-threatening. Click below to read more…

Recently, some Asian women were featured in a talk show where they they admitted to using a different photo other than photos of themselves as their profile photos for  Facebook and other social media. The photos they used were of other fellow Asian women who are perceived as more beautiful than they are.

As you can see, the disparity between their faces and the faces of the women in the photos is so glaring.

How did this damaging notion start and how can it be curbed?

Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo Exposes Married Man Who Inboxed Her For Sex On Facebook

Facebook Set To Unveil A Brand New…Newsfeed Today, March 7th

Facebook will be unveiling a new look for its popular “newsfeed” next week. The company which plays host to a 1 billion member social network said in an emailed invitation to reporters on Friday that it will showcase the newsfeed makeover at a media event on March 7 at its Menlo Park, California headquarters.

Chief Executive, Mark Zuckerberg has said that the popular newsfeed which lets us share photos, videos and comments, is one of three pillars of the site’s service.

According to Huffington Post:

The last major update to Facebook’s newsfeed was in September 2011. Since then, the company has incorporated ads directly into the feed and the company has shifted its focus to creating “mobile first experiences,” as more people now access the social network every day on mobile devices than on desktop PCs.

Being that the feed is such a vital part of the site this could be a major fail or a major success but we’re hoping for the latter!

Former Nigerian President, Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari Turns 88 Today | Read President Jonathan’s Congratulatory Message

SHAGARI

Today marks the 88th birthday of former Nigerian president, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari. On this occasion, President Goodluck Jonathan sent him a message through his Facebook account: Click below to read more…

“Today, I want to wish a genuine Nigerian patriot, President Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari, GCFR, a happy birthday. Since the time you were ‘Beckoned to Serve’, you have consistently demonstrated the humility of a servant leader. As a democrat per excellence, you always reached out to all the peoples of Nigeria in persuasion rather than dictation. On behalf of my family and the people of Nigeria, I felicitate with you and your family as you mark your 88th birthday and pray for God to give you a long life of further service to Nigeria. Happy Birthday sir. GEJ.”

Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari was born on February 25, 1925 and holds the aristocratic title of Turakin Sakkwato in the Sokoto Caliphate. He served as the President of Nigeria’s Second Republic from 1979–1985 before he was overthrown by the military government of General Muhammadu Buhari.

Wishing the Elderstatesman a very Happy Birthday.

NOTE: WIKIPEDIA’S CITATION OF HIM IS WRONG!!! He didn’t hand over power to Obasanjo, he was overthrown by Buhari and he served as president from 1979-1985 and not 1983 like Wikipedia’s report states.

GOLDIE’S BIGGEST SECRET 3: Who Thinks Goldie’s ‘Husband’, Andrew Harvey Is A Jerk?

Ugly drama has continued to trail the news of Nigerian pop singer, Goldie Harvey’s sudden death. Late last night, Andrew Harvey…the man who claims to be Goldie’s husband posted this on Facebook:

HARVEY FB POST 1

It seems Harvey wrote this post as a result of a previous story posted by a news site, Fashion Buzz which claimed Goldie snatched Andrew Harvey from her best friend, Ifeoma Harvey. The site added that Ifeoma and Andrew were still legally married in the UK, with two kids when Goldie and Andrew eloped in Nigeria. The site also said that Ifeoma was planning to come out with the “true story.”

Andrew’s Facebook post sparked a thread of diverse opinions in comments. Please read them all before I have my say…

HARVEY FB COMMENT 1 HARVEY FB COMMENT 2

QUICK DEEVANALYSIS:

As a blogger, I’m torn sometimes between respecting the privacy of celebrities and doing my job which is reporting trending news. For this one, I really felt I had to say something.

I’d like to go with Anne Waiguru’s opinion. Andrew Harvey does sound like a jerk to me as well. I wasn’t Goldie’s biggest fan, but I liked her. The morning after she died, I’d be lying if I told you I remembered what I had for breakfast…I was just putting food in my mouth. Shock and sadness took over me from 10:45pm when I heard the news on Valentine’s day and is just wearing off now. So what husband would be “ENJOYING fish and chips” two days after his wife’s death? Or is it oyibo style of mourning?

I feel using that word “ENJOYING” was quite insensitive, and adding the meal he was having at the time was totally unnecessary. For a man who ‘agreed with his wife to keep their marital life private’… what should he care about rumours that he’s on a sick bed in Malaysia, or that a news site mixed up his wedding dates?

HARVEY FB POST 2

I’m even more shocked that most Nigerians were hailing him on…which shows they still have this mentality as seeing anything a white man does as superior. If it was a black man who dared to post that comment, they would have accused him of using Goldie for rituals…gbam!

Andrew Harvey, my take is, you guys were estranged. I’m so sorry for your loss but please take a seat. She didn’t want us to know you when she was alive, so why must we know you now that she’s dead? Let your existence continue to be private.

As it is, your revelations have sparked off so many malicious rumours that won’t let Goldie’s poor soul rest in peace.

Let us never forget that we are not so pure ourselves.

Susan Goldie Adebimpe Filani Harvey, all these do not matter anymore…you are at peace now.

Suspects Of Cynthia Osokogwu’s Murder Plead Guilty

The trial has started in the case of  Cynthia Osokogwu…the Nasarrawa State University postgraduate student who was allegedly lured to Lagos and killed by men she became friends with on Facebook.

The late Cynthia died after she was allegedly poisoned, raped and strangulated to death by two of the men, Okwumo Nwabufo and Ezike Olisaeloka.

All four suspects involved in the murder of  Cynthia have pleaded guilty to the six-count charge brought against them.

All moves by the defence team to stall the trial were frustrated by presiding justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos high court, Ikeja, who promptly took the testimony of the first prosecution witness after the arraignment of the four suspects in the case.

In her testimony, the first prosecution witness, Mrs Ifeanyiwa Njewu, a biochemistry graduate of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state, testified that at the time of the incident, on the 22nd of July, 2012, she worked as the receptionist of the Cosmilla Suites & Hotel at Lakeview phase 1 estate, Lagos, where the late Cynthia was killed.

Mrs. Njewu identified the 2nd and 4th defendants as being present at the hotel on the day of the incident. Please read her heart-rending narration:

After her shift was over, she briefed her colleague who took over to check out the couple the next morning since that was when they said they were leaving. When Njewu resumed duty the next day, she was briefed that the couple had left but that a brother of the man had taken over the room since the payment made on the room will not expire until 12pm.

She told the court that the new occupant of the room… whom she identified as the first defendant, Okwumo told her through intercom that he would be staying behind but needed to get cash from the ATM machine to pay for the day. Okwumo came down and met the second defendant, Ezike who was waiting for him at the reception.

She said Okwumo who left the hotel in company of the Ezike never returned but called the hotel later to say that Cynthia who was in room C1 should be removed from the hotel.

“He said he will return by 12pm. I waited until around 3pm, when someone called the intercom phone and identified himself as the occupant of room C1 and that he is not going to come back and that we should remove the ‘idiot from the room’.

Immediately I called our manager and explained what had happened. He told me that if Okwumo doesn’t come back, the girl should pay for the room. He told me to call the room through the company’s intercom phone. I called several times but there was no response.

The manager Mr Victor went upstairs and said he knocked at the door and there was no response. So he told me to take the master key since I am a lady like her, that I should go and open the door. I went up stairs to the room and knocked severally and there was no response. So I used the master key to open the door. Immediately I opened the door, I saw deceased Cynthia naked on the bed. I was shocked and I shouted Jesus.”

She added that she rushed down to tell the manager who later invited police. The two suspects were identified by the police through a replay of the CCTV recording mounted in the hotel.

The court, however, granted bail to the 3rd and 4th defendants in the case, while the 1st and 2nd who allegedly committed the offence of murder are still remanded at the Kirikiri prison in Lagos.

The trial will continue on the 22nd of February, 2013.

An Address From President Jonathan To Nigerians On Facebook

Today, this address to Nigerians appeared on Goodluck Jonathan’s Facebook page. The piece focuses on economy and investment, also on youths’ employment, railways and pipelines’ rehabilitation and opening of the new universities.

Dear friends on facebook,

The determination of this administration to create wealth in Nigeria and for Nigerians has led us to focus our investment drive towards attracting Foreign Direct Investments in manufacturing and the service sector to ensure that jobs are created. And this drive is not an exercise in futility as Nigeria is becoming the preferred destination for FDI. Just last week, General Electric announced a decision to invest $1 billion in setting up a manufacturing plant to support power generation and oil production. Their plant, to be situated in Calabar, will provide jobs for thousands with multiplier effect for tens of thousands more and will make Nigeria a hub for power equipment in the region. The end result of this investment is that Nigeria’s power generating infrastructure will be expanded meaning more power for Nigerians which translates to even more jobs.

CLICK BELOW TO READ MORE…

While we continue to encourage the Private Sector to help grow our economy and create jobs for our youths, we will do all within our powers to also keep our youths engaged. In this regard I am happy to report that the 600 bed Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State which this administration began working on in February 2011 has reached 95% completion and when commissioned later this year it will provide jobs for 3000 people. Similar projects are ongoing in other geo-political zones and I will keep you updated.

Similarly, ongoing massive investments in the rehabilitation of our railways are being carried out with direct labour, thereby providing jobs to thousands of our youths especially around the Ilorin-Minna-Kaduna-Kano corridor of our rail network. In addition to the regular Lagos to Kano service, the Nigerian Railway Corporation has introduced new routes including the Offa-Kano intercity service. These initiatives are generating employment and providing an inexpensive means of travel as well as an alternative means of hauling heavy goods and petroleum products to the hinterland.

Rehabilitation works are also ongoing in the nation’s pipelines to ensure a resumption of the supply of petroleum products by pipelines all over the nation thus reducing the pressure on our roads and railways and freeing up space for hauling other products. Jobs are being created as this is ongoing and moribund services are being resumed. Just last month, the Benin Depot of the Pipeline Product Marketing Company (PPMC) was reopened after a successful completion of rehabilitation works. Products can now be transferred by pipelines to this facility.

And it is not just in the service sectors that we are seeing construction and rehabilitation. During the maiden meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation meeting, the Federal Government approved the establishment of three new universities in Yobe, Kebbi and Zamfara states. Apart from the jobs that the construction works will generate in those states, value is being added to the local economy as more citizens will have access to tertiary education with its attendant effect in wealth generation and improved health.

My dear friends on facebook, may God bless you, even as I pray for Almighty God to bless our country, Nigeria. GEJ.

Don’t Believe The Hype! New Facebook Privacy Notice Is Fake

Many Facebook users are falling victim to a new policy notice that promises to safeguard the information you post on Facebook – it ain’t real!

However, it is true that Facebook is making their privacy regulations more lax when it comes to sharing users’ personal information with advertisers on the site. Although users can post their reactions to the changes, they will not be allowed to vote on it.

The fake Facebook notice that has been circulating claims that if you post it onto your wall, then you will be excluded from the new privacy regulations. It claims that it will protect users’ personal details and data from unauthorized copying.

According to the fabricated notice, a user has the authority to copyright their “personal details, illustrations, graphics, comics, paintings, photos and videos, etc. (as a result of the Berner Convention).

For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times!

It also alleges that anyone who copies and pastes this text on their Facebook wall will stop Facebook from its right to “disclose, copy, distribute, disseminate, or take any other action against [the user] on the basis of this profile and/or its contents.”

The full text of the notice reads:

In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, graphics, comics, paintings, photos and videos, etc. (as a result of the Berner Convention). For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times! (Anyone reading this can copy this text and paste it on their Facebook Wall. This will place them under protection of copyright laws.

By the present communiqué, I notify Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, disseminate, or take any other action against me on the basis of this profile and/or its contents. The aforementioned prohibited actions also apply to employees, students, agents and/or any staff under Facebook’s direction or control. The content of this profile is private and confidential information.

The violation of my privacy is punished by law (UCC 1 1-308-308 1-103 and the Rome Statute). Facebook is now an open capital entity. All members are recommended to publish a notice like this, or if you prefer, you may copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once, you will be tacitly allowing the use of elements such as your photos as well as the information contained in your profile status updates…

According to Fox News, here’s what you can expect from the Facebook changes: Little has changed in terms of Facebook’s Data Use Policy, but reading through the revisions should remind users that there’s not much privacy on Facebook. The changes also address issues around promoting a business and providing input on the site’s policies.

Facebook spelled out the types of topics that will be shared with advertisers as interests when users like a page, including products and brands they like, religion, political views and health status. For instance, if Facebook users join a group that offers support for herpes or other health conditions, they are likely to see ads from pharmaceutical companies that offer remedies.

The sharing of data is not new, but Facebook is adding details to prevent its users from being surprised by ads coinciding with their demographic information that might seem intrusive. (Advertisers do not receive personally identifiable information, however.)

When you delete an item from your Timeline, it may remain visible to others who saw it in the past. “Anyone in the audience of those posts or who can see a connection may still see it elsewhere, like on someone else’s timeline or in search results,” Facebook’s addition reads. Amazing!! Baby Reaches Out From Mother's Womb During C-section To Grab Doctor's Finger!

Soon-to-be-born Nevaeh pokes her tiny hand out of her mother's womb and tightly grasping the finger of the doctor helping to bring her into the world

A precious baby called Nevaeh was born on October 9, 2012 through Caesarean section to Alicia and Randy Atkins of Glendale, Arizona.

What makes her birth extremely unique is that while doctors were still operating on her mother, she poked her tiny hand out of her mother’s womb and tightly grasped the finger of the doctor helping to bring her into the world!

A stunning photograph which captures this moment was taken by her dad and posted on December 26 on her parents Facebook page. This photo has become one of the first viral hits of 2013 as family, friends and well-wishers stunned by this phenomenon have liked and shared it thousands of times.

The irony of it is that Nevaeh’s mom , Alicia Atkins is a professional photographer who owns A Classic Pin-Up Photo Studio, but it was dad, Randy who shot the winning photo..

Randy told 3TV News: ‘The doctor called me over and said, “Hey, she’s grabbing my finger,” so I ran over there and just grabbed the shot and I was just in awe looking at it. It was such an amazing picture.’

While Alice wrote this caption on the photo: ‘This was 10 weeks ago when I was having my c-section and Dr. Sawyer broke my water and my daughter reached up out of my stomach and grabbed the Dr.’s finger and my hubby caught this special moment.

Baby Nevaeh is now 11 weeks old and doing very well…and oh! …Baby Nevaeh’s name means Heaven spelt backwards.

Kris Jenner Hits Back At Haters Calling Kim Kardashian "A Slut" On The Internet

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner - Kim Kardashian Photocall At The 49th Monte Carlo TV Festival

Trouble started on New Year’s Eve after Kim posted a photo of herself with her best friend Brittny Gastineau enjoying New Year’s Eve in a Las Vegas nightclub.

Commenters on Twitter blasted her. One user called her a “no fit mother,” another called her “fat”, adding “lose some weight”…another said Kim was  ”busted and old news’”and another accused her of being ‘f****** up’ to her baby.

A furious Kris Jenner, Kris, who was with her daughter that night, launched a counter attack on Wednesday, starting with a tweet she reposted on her Facebook page:

Mom for the save: Kris gained attention for a Facebook post that defended her daughter Kim against internet trolls

Over a 100,000 Kardashian fans liked the comment, and hundreds commented their approval beneath.

Kris later explained that while  she didn’t originally write the tweet, she shared the sentiments. Kris then responded with two posts on Thursday, clarifying the origin of the wild remark.

“I just wanna say that I didn’t write the status about Kim K pregnant, u hoes be 16.. blah blah!’ she wrote. She continued: ‘Ugh!! I’m not like that… and… Never thought I would do such a big impact with it!’

Anyway, we know this powerful Momager always protects her own! ;)

Brother Takes Revenge On Sister On Facebook

I saw this story and I laughed so hard, tears were rolling down my eyes. The story is about two years old but it’s definitely a classic.

So, here’s the deal. Chris sounds like a pretty cool kid, if not a little bit of a dick head. Apparently his sister Katie told their parents that Chris was hiding a 12 pack of booze in his room.

His parents, being typically strict Asian parents, grounded Chris for three months. For revenge, Chris went searching through Katie’s room for some dirt. And he found a doozy.

Katie had composed a list of fellow students she was planning on hooking up with, with all of the dirty details intact. Chris posted this list on Facebook, tagging all of the guys listed. Hilarity ensued. Revenge is a bitch, but so is this guy’s sister.

Private Picture Of Mark Zuckerberg's Family Leaked

The photo in question, according to gizmodo.com, which also lists the tweet exchanges between Randi Zuckerberg and the woman who tweeted the Zuckerberg family photo.

A photo that Mark Zuckerberg’s sister, Randi posted on her personal Facebook profile was seen by a marketing director, who then posted the picture to Twitter and her more than 40,000 followers on Wednesday.

Randi was upset about it and tweeted at Callie Schweitzer that the picture was meant for friends only and that posting the private picture on Twitter was “way uncool.”  This is what she tweeted:

“Digital etiquette: always ask permission before posting a friend’s photo publicly. It’s not about privacy settings, it’s about human decency,” she posted on Twitter.

Schweitzer replied by saying the picture popped up on her Facebook news feed.

The picture shows four people standing around a kitchen staring at their phones with their mouths open while Mark Zuckerberg is in the background.

Randi Zuckerberg, who used to run Facebook’s marketing department and now produces a reality television show, eventually said Schweitzer was able to see the picture because they had a mutual friend. Those tweets have since been taken down.

Randi Zuckerberg’s comments have since sparked sharp reactions from people who thought the issue wasn’t about etiquette, but rather Facebook’s often changing and often confusing privacy settings.

Eva Galperin of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a privacy advocacy group in San Francisco said:

“The thing that bugged me about Randi Zuckerberg’s response is that she used her name as a bludgeoning device. Not everyone has that. She used her position to get it taken it down.”

While Facebook has made improvements in explaining the social network’s privacy settings, Galperin said they remain confusing to most people. She added that with people using Facebook as part of their everyday lives, the consequences of fumbling privacy settings can become serious.

“Even Randi Zuckerberg can get it wrong. That’s an illustration of how confusing they can be,” she said.

The Menlo Park, Calif., company recently announced it is changing its privacy settings with the aim of making it easier for users to navigate them.

The fine-tuning will include several revisions that will start rolling out to Facebook’s more than 1 billion users during the next few weeks and continue into early next year.

The most visible change , and perhaps the most appreciated , will be a new “privacy shortcuts” section that appears as a tiny lock at the top right of people’s news feeds. This feature offers a drop-down box where users can get answers to common questions such as “Who can see my stuff?”

But Galperin said Wednesday’s incident also illustrates a general concern about Internet privacy. Essentially, she said, if you share information or a photo with your social network, people in your network have the ability to share that with whomever else they choose.

The mobile photo-sharing service Instagram, which is owned by Facebook Inc., had to answer to backlash to privacy concerns recently when new terms of service suggested user photos could be used in advertisements. The company later said it would remove the questionable language.

I shall publish more stories on Facebook and Instagram privacy settings later, because I too got irked about my privacy being breached on Facebook.

Tonto Dikeh Advises Yvonne Nelson?

Personally, I’m so tired of reporting Tonto Dikeh news…that and the Kardashians…and Rihanna getting naked…and her twisted relationships with Chris Brown.

Yea… it’s a dirty job but somebody’s gotta do it!

So with all tiredness *yawning*, I bring you the latest in the Yvonne Nelson-Iyanya-Tonto Dikeh love triangle.

So Nigerian Kurukere singer, Iyanya, breaks up with Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson and hooks up with Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh.

Yvonne takes to Twitter to rant about how Iyanya “played” her and “moved on to the next actress.”

The topic starts trending on Twitter… fans start blasting Iyanya who says ‘thank you’ to a fan that called him, “a fool for dumping Ghana actress, Yvonne Nelson for Nollywood star turned Musician, Tonto Dikeh”.

Tonto Dikeh also took to Twitter and became a Love Doctor by advising Yvonne…posting via her Twitter handle @Tontolet:

“3wordz abt Life-IT GOEZ ON**”. See other tweets below:

Jonathan's Facebook Page Attacked For Not Fulfilling Promise

Hundreds of Facebook users have stormed President Goodluck Jonathan’s Facebook page asking him the reason he broke his promise to release funds to clean up poisonous Lead in Zamfara State.

The president had pledged some amount in May to aid the clean-up, but it is yet to be seen what the money was used for.

On Thursday, two rights groups, Human Rights Watch and the Nigerian Youth Climate Action Network, NYCAN, called on the public to prevail on Mr. Jonathan to release the said funds.

“Unless the promised funds are released immediately, clean-up of the contaminated areas won’t be able to start until after next year’s rainy season, leaving thousands more children at risk of death and permanent disability,” said Babatunde Olugboji of Human Rights Watch.

Over 400 children have died from the lead poisoning, according to Mr. Olugboji, and thousands more are in dire need of medical attention.

The rights groups said that government’s failure to release the promised funds has left thousands of children with lifelong disability in the worst lead poisoning outbreak in recent history.

After the groups’ request on Thursday, hundreds of comments telling Mr. Jonathan that ” Children are dying and your government’s failure to act is putting more children at risk” surfaced on his page.

In his last facebook post, Mr. Jonathan’s had pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with his “transformation agenda.”

“Last year, you entrusted me with your mandate by voting for me to emerge as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I continue to hold that mandate in trust for you and future generations of Nigeria.

“Over the past year, this administration has been working on fulfilling the promises I made to you during the campaigns. Many of those promises will take time to come to fruition…,” Mr. Jonathan wrote on his November 1 post.

The comments on the Zamfara lead poisoning were put under Mr. Jonathan’s last post.

“I know you’ve got a lot of difficult tasks to tackle in the next year, but the Zamfara cleanup is one that has a proven solution and you have the funds to solve it. Respect your citizens by cleaning up toxins,” read one comment on his post by Elyse Leonard.

Another post by M Ahmet Nermin read “#Lead poisoning in Zamfara State, Nigeria, killed 400+ children and left thousands more with permanent life-long disability. In May, President Goodluck Jonathan pledged $4,000,000 to clean up the lead contamination. Today, that money is nowhere to be found, and thousands of children remain at risk of death and disability. #childrights.”

Meet One Of The Unfortunate Victims Of The Auchi Robbery Shootout

On November 26 2012, 50 gunmen stormed the sleepy and peaceful town of Auchi…blasting 3 commercial banks and a police station with dynamite. They also shot into the air sporadically with sophisticated weapons that even the town’s police force were no match for.

After the shootout, this guy whose photo you see here was felled by the bullets. It’s so painful whenever we can put a face to  fallen victims.

Alleh Paul, 28 was an HND graduate of the Osun State Polytechnic; he had his OND from Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.  He had just secured employment with a petroleum servicing company in Warri. His younger brother was having some trouble with admission into the federal polytechnic at Auchi, so Paul who was the polytechnic’s alumnus, came down to Auchi to assist his younger brother secure an admission. He was never to return.

His birthday is tomorrow, December 4; he would have turned 29. He had told his friends he wouldn’t celebrate. His friend posted on Facebook: “You told Me you were not going to celebrate your birthday which was supposed to be next month on 4th. I never knew you were telling me the truth! Hard to forget your last word. Rest in Peace.”

What I found most touching was a eulogy written by his kinsman, B.O. Williams. In his eulogy titled “‎…THE GRASS SUFFER!” Williams said:
“That is exactly what happens when the elephants fight. If not, why would Alleh Paul be felled by the bullets from the gun-totting, incorrigible actions of robbers’?’ or ‘Nigerians who seemed to be on a pound-of-flesh-mission?’

It does not really matter who those killers were. The issue here is the pain my people are subjected to. Ojirami can boast of only a handful of graduates. Imagine one of them, who was determined to cause his people to smile, being silenced in his prime at the tender age 28?

Alleh Paul was the first son in a family of seven. A former president of National Association of Edo State Students, he upheld good moral standards and was very supportive of community developmental efforts. At this crucial time when the people are gathering to form a formidable force in order to provoke result oriented progressive activities, the premeditated but unlucky 26th November 2012 Auchi killings robbed the community of this great son.

Who will fill this yawning void? Who will console the parents who sold all their possessions just to ensure that a cock crowed in their family? And now they not only lost their investment, they have been robbed of their entire rewards and happiness! Who will push for things to happen when the community is being relegated to the backgrounds like has always been in the hands of opportunists?

The community has lost a gem! REST IN PEACE, PAUL.”

Alleh Paul, I also join your kinsman in saying, rest in peace…and to all the other victims that we cannot yet put a face to…Rest in Peace. :(

Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah Has Tweeted About the Alleged Bombing Attempt on Arik Plane

The Nigerian Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah sent these messages few minutes ago on Twitter.

She has also released a statement on her Facebook page through her Special Adviser on Media, Joe Obi. The statement reads:

ALLEGED BOMB ON ARIK  FLIGHT A HOAX – AVIATION MINISTRY

by Princess Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 12:32pm

The rumour making the rounds of a bomb scare on an Arik Airline flight from Maiduguri to Abuja is absolutely false. In fact, it is a hoax as there is no iota of truth whatsoever in this wicked rumour.

A passenger, Aminu Galadima, an indigene of Minna, Niger state boarded a Maiduguri – Abuja bound Arik Air aircraft with registration number 5N MJE after going through all mandatory security screening. Nothing incriminating, no explosives or weapons whatsoever were found on him.

However, mid air the passenger began to act strangely, loudly screaming ”God is Great”. Fellow passengers, alarmed by this behaviour rushed to apprehend him. A thorough search by fellow passengers and crew members revealed nothing dangerous on him. The pilot immediately radioed Air Traffic Control and airport security operatives.

The plane landed safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at exactly 1253 hrs and the suspect handed over to the SSS at about 1445 hrs where he is currently being interrogated.

We wish to reassure the flying public of the continued focus of the Federal Ministry of Aviation on the safety and security of the nation’s airspace, while cautioning fellow Nigerians on the spreading of dangerous rumours. These rumours do not help to make our airspace either safer or more secure.

Charles Novia’s Critique of Tonto Dike’s Songs

         Tonto Dikeh                                  Charles Novia

Ace Movie Director, Charles Novia wrote this on his Facebook following the release of  Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh’s Singles.

Tonto’s Terrible Tremolo by Charles Novia

I have restrained myself for a couple of years from commenting on Tonto Dike’s career after my last comments about her role in the soft porn movie she acted in two years back, were badly taken by her and she went on twitter to hurl infantile insults on my person with expletives and uncomplimentary remarks.

My reaction to such then was just a dignified silence. After all, I had already spoken on her stunted talent as an up and coming actress and further comments on her incensed tweets were unnecessary.

All through the past few hours, the social media networks have been abuzz with the new singles of actress, Tonto Dike. She seems to have joined the actors of her ilk who have the moonlighting itch to delve into singing. While no one can stop such an ambition by those artistes, I do think those who surround such artistes are their worst enemies if they can’t tell them the truth about leaving their sometimes doubtful day job.

Well, I will! I listened to Miss Dike’s two singles a few minutes ago and my initial speechlessness morphed to a nagging laughter and then subsided into a befuddled anguish.

I’m a music label owner (November Records) and have produced and Executive Produced acts like Majek Fashek, Terry tha Rapman, Zubby Enebeli etc. I know much about music and the slant of commercial music. But after listening to Miss Dike’s songs, I’m inclined to align with the majorly negative comments about them on cyberspace.

Ah-ah! Whoever produced her knew she has a bad voice for singing and masked our listening torture with the Autotune effect. But even the Autotune rejected any attempt to make a bad voice worse and Miss Dike came out sounding like she was in mid-stream orgasm instead of singing! Her anguished tremolos would have been better reserved for a horror movie sound effect than an attempt at joining the revered profession of music.

If Omotola got away with her last two terrible attempts at singing, it was because Omotola is a fantastic actress and her fans could forgive her musical failings after backtracking her body of work in Nollywood.

With Tonto, I can’t say much either for her acting depth. She’s a one-dimensional actress in my opinion, who mistakes notoriety for fame. She needs more training in acting and this I say with all sense of professionalism as a movie Director. She might achieve greater heights in acting if she trains more. But she has no heights to achieve in singing. Only a downward plunge, the stuff bad endings in movies are made of.
